During Christmas, the center of Seville, dresses to the nines, for the most anticipated moment of the year.
In the city squares you can see imposing Christmas trees, all covered with lights and garlands. The same streets are decorated and adorned with Christmas lighting and submerged in pleasant smells, where the roasted chestnuts stand out. The stores compete with each other for who presents the best showcase. All this makes Seville a wonderful place to visit at this time of year.
The Christmas markets are made up of small wooden houses and stalls full of sweets and handicrafts, including the figures of the Bethlehem Portal. In Seville, different markets around the city can be highlighted.
Christmas Handicraft Market of Seville
From December 17, 2019 to January 5, 2020
This market takes place in the square in front of the town hall, La Plaza Nueva, a few steps from the Cathedral and the Giralda. It is a market dedicated to the typical crafts of Seville.
It consists of 80 wooden houses where local artisans and merchants sell pottery, jewelry, leather, glass, wooden toys, and other Andalusian products.
The Bethlehem Fair
It is one of the most important fairs of its kind in Spain, it takes place around the Cathedral and the General Archive of the Indies, between Fray Caferino street and Avenida de la Constitución. The Bethlehem Fair has around 30 craft and merchant stalls, where items and figures for nativity scenes and Christmas tree decorations are offered.
Great Christmas Market of Seville
It takes place in the Nervión Plaza shopping center, on Luis de Morales Avenue. In this market, you can also find wooden cabins with unique, exclusive and handmade decoration created exclusively for the mall, and you can find gift items for all audiences, in addition to all the stores that are inside. It is the ideal place to spend an afternoon with family or friends, as it is a leisure and dining area for all ages.
Other activities
It is worth mentioning the traditional procession of the Three Kings Parade, which is celebrated on January 5 in Seville. The stop starts at around 5 pm and ends at 10 pm, which crosses the city center.
